While the quantity of unclaimed property varies, the state of Washington has received more than $1 billion in unclaimed assets since the program began in 1955. While the figures fluctuate as a new property is added and another property is claimed, NAUPA believes that the total value of unclaimed property in the United States is now around $42 billion.
