Unclaimed money, unclaimed money, abandoned capital, and abandoned property are all terms used to describe unclaimed funds. In general, the word refers to property that you have left behind and has a monetary value. When you look at the big picture, the amount of money that hasn’t been claimed is startling. The National Association of Unclaimed Property Administrators (NAUPA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to administering unclaimed property across the United States. While the figures fluctuate as a new property is added and another property is claimed, NAUPA believes that the total value of unclaimed property in the United States is now around $42 billion.
