Henry County, Ky – The Kentucky Lottery announced this week they are searching for the owner of an unclaimed $1 Million Powerball ticket sold last summer in Henry County.
According to the lottery, this ticket was sold on July 19th, 2023, at Henry County Pilot Travel Center in Kentucky. As soon as an unclaimed ticket expires, lottery officials provide details regarding its purchase and add it to the list of kentucky unclaimed money in hopes that its rightful holder may come forward and claim their prize.
According to lottery officials, the ticket was sold at Pilot Travel Center No. 50 at 489 Pendleton Road in Pendleton, Kentucky, where its estimated jackpot stood at an estimated $1 billion.
Officials claim the unclaimed ticket owner matched four white balls – 7-10-11-13-24 – earning them the secondary prize of $1 Million but were unsuccessful in matching Powerball 24, leading them to leave it behind and remain unclaimed.
“It is extremely rare for anyone holding a $1 Million Powerball ticket not to cash it in,” Kentucky Lottery President Mary Harville noted in a press release. However, she maintains hope that they will find the owner and award them their prize before its expiration.
Lottery officials note that lottery tickets officially expire on Jan. 15, but due to Martin Luther King Jr. Day being celebrated at Lottery HQ in Louisville on that date, those holding tickets have until Jan 12 before 5pm ET to bring it in for collection at its corporate office.
